Trail Camera Thylacine Expedition to New Guinea
Donation protected
We plan to set up over a hundred trail cameras in some of New Guinea’s most remote regions in hopes of finding living Thylacine specimens. We plan to work alongside local guides and consider past reported sightings when determining our targeted regions for survey. These animals once roamed this island, and unlike in Australia, the dingo—one of the main reasons for their disappearance was never introduced to New Guinea. Given the islands vast remote wilderness, it's possible that this elusive marsupial predator has gone undetected until now. The mission involves detailed logistical planning, advanced monitoring and connectivity equipment, medical support, and transportation solutions. Careful attention and respect will be paid to local authorities, native populations, and natural wilderness in order not to impose a negative impact.
