This is a fundraiser to support the continued operation of Thumbs Up Theatre Toronto during COVID-19.
We are a social group that, in normal times, goes to the theatre, as well as to other arts and cultural events. Members pay a $2 meetup fee to the event host when attending in person. This helps cover our hosts' time and expenses as well as our group's operating costs.
Our group has continued to operate during COVID-19 by offering virtual events. Since March 2020, all meetup fees have been waived to keep our virtual events free and enable as many people as possible to attend. Many people are physically isolated and would have limited social contact with others, and not be able to see theatre productions and concerts, if virtual events were not offered.
This fundraiser will help pay for the costs to continue operating our group. This includes the Zoom and Meetup group subscriptions. The Meetup subscription is paid in U.S. dollars.
Funds will also go in appreciation to our key event hosts who spend countless hours searching for, organizing, posting and hosting virtual events for Thumbs Up Theatre Toronto.
Proceeds will also help pay for some special guests in the arts and culture fields to enable our group to offer a wider range of virtual events in 2021.
Our group helps keep theatre and the arts alive for people during COVID-19 and, in so doing, supports the performing arts.
