Hi everyone,
My name is Mia & I am the owner of two loving miniature schnauzers (Casper, Left; Ghost, Right). This past week they were both suddenly and unknowingly poisoned by something in our neighborhood. Quickly with the toxin in their bodies, their health started to decline, & on Tuesday morning our loving Ghost of only 1 year old had a terrifying seizure. We quickly rushed Ghost to the hospital to try & pin point what was going on. After basic blood work & vet examination, we discovered that Ghost’s life was in critical danger, & his kidneys were close to failure! Per the urgent care vet’s advice, we rushed both him & our 5 year old Casper to Access Specialty Hospital to try and save their lives after discovering this illness.
Unfortunately, due to complications from the toxins in their bodies, Casper’s health began to decline rapidly over the next 12 hours. By the next morning, we were told he would need invasive surgery to fix the damage in his stomach, caused by the toxins. Due to the state of his kidneys the vet said he would most likely not survive surgery, & we were forced to make the toughest decision to put him down. Casper passed away quickly & peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, and we had to say goodbye to our little friend far too soon.
Ghost is currently hospitalized & receiving treatment as he fights for his life. His blood work shows extremely elevated values in his kidneys, but as they slowly decline & he continues to receive treatment, every day is a fight for him. In order for Ghost to survive, he will need many more days in the hospital with treatment to try & get his values back to, or close to, normal.
As many pet owners know, veterinary expenses can be extremely costly, and we’ve had the misfortune of not one, but both of our pets being hospitalized with extensive care for the past few days. We know times are tough, and people have to fight their own battles each & every day, but any amount donated in the fight towards saving Ghost’s life is appreciated beyond measure. Our pets are not only our friends, but our family, too!
