Help Baby Klaus with his Cleft Palate
Donation protected
I am fundraising on behalf of Cats Whiskers Rescue to raise money for Klaus.
Baby Klaus is a 4-month old kitten who is recovering from an urgent operation for a cleft palate. This is where the tissues in the roof of the mouth have failed to close properly during early development. This is a serious condition and baby Klaus may not have survived without surgery.
Klaus is an extremely gentle, fragile, adorable and friendly boy and we all love him to bits. He is now recovering and starting to eat special food supplied by the vet, and he is even beginning to play a little. It is possible that a second surgery may be needed as he grows.
How did this vulnerable kitten end up in our care? His original owner obtained him from a ‘breeder’ who told them that Klaus was the runt of the litter. When a vet checked him, it was found that he had a cleft palate requiring surgery and the owner realised that they could not afford it. We quickly accepted Klaus into foster care, got him to see a vet who prescribed antibiotics as he had an infection (common in cleft palate cases) and arranged for an urgent operation.
We are asking for donations, however small, towards Klaus’ very expensive surgery and medical care – please help if you can, as we rely solely on donations for the care of our cats.
