We have recently been asked if there are any charities or ways to support Piper with her visual impairment/brain abnormalities - Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and Septo Optic Dysplasia, and after lots of talking and researching therapies, treatments and aids, we’ve decided to set up a go fund me page for her.
This will help her to work towards her goals, help her overcome the obstacles she will undoubtably meet in life, and to help her progress and reach her full potential. With that in mind, a Go Fund Me page seems like the best platform for it.
If you have thought about buying something for Pipers development but your not sure what, or if you have wanted to fundraise for Piper but don’t know a charity to support... we hope this can be used as a useful tool.
So, where will the money go? Unfortunately, there is no cure or treatment for Pipers condition yet. However, you never what is around the corner so until then (if that day ever comes) the funds will be used to purchase items that will help Pipers development.
That might be a braille book, a sensory toy, a Perkins Brailler, a piece of sensory equipment (these cost a bomb) or even some eSight glasses (which are roughly £10,000) with the hope one day she will be a successful candidate for them.
We do not expect anyone to donate anything or fundraise on behalf of Piper at all, This Go Fund Me Page is simply here if you want to do something.
If you do choose to fundraise, please don’t feel like you have to do this over and over again... just support the cause if you want to, and don’t be worried if you’re fundraising for another cause. We understand everyone has their reasons for supporting other charities/causes. If you do choose to donate, thankyou, but please don’t feel like you need to donate every time someone is fundraising on behalf of the page... Just support the people you know, if they’re taking part in something.
We will obviously be open and transparent about where the money will be or has been used. Don’t be put off by the target, we had to put one, so figured we might as well put it high enough to reach the cost of her eSight glasses, she won’t be eligible for these for many years so it gives us a good amount of time to try to raise the funds.
Anytime we purchase some equipment we will; upload the receipt, keep all paperwork in a folder and hopefully you’ll see the photo’s and videos of Piper using the equipment in Jades frequently updated Blogs where you can keep up to date with all of Pipers progress and condition.
