Hello everyone!
My name is Kayla Bowman and I am the producer of Matthew Hyon's upcoming film, "Through The Cracks." We are looking for sufficient funding to help our production to strengthen the power this story tells and to share among the world!
At its heart, this short film is about sacrifice, survival, and the quiet resilience of immigrant mothers.
Set against the backdrop of Philadelphia’s restless streets, the story follows Hana, a Korean immigrant mother working as a food delivery courier. Every night, she pedals through the cold and chaos of the city, carrying the weight of two things: the orders strapped to her bike, and the hope of giving her daughter, Grace, a better future.
The film weaves between the grind of invisible labor and the intimate moments of family life, exploring the gap between survival and belonging. It shines a light on the emotional toll of working-class immigrant struggles...how far someone will push themselves for the promise of opportunity, and the unspoken sacrifices that too often go unseen.
This project is about more than just one woman’s story, it’s about the countless families who balance on that same line every day. By supporting this film, you’re helping bring a deeply human, timely story to the screen ... one that speaks to questions of identity, dignity, and the cost of chasing the American dream.
Your donations will go directly toward production costs, equipment, cast & crew, permits, and post-production. This ensures that the story gets the life it deserves on screen.
Donors will be listed in the credits of the film.
Thank you for believing in this project, and for helping us bring this story to life.
