Through Her Eyes - Shave for Sight

If there’s one thing I have learnt over the years, it’s that it only takes one person, one moment to change your life forever.
To change your perspective, to colour your thinking.
To force you to re-evaluate everything you think you know.
To ask yourself the toughest questions.
Nicola Henderson Danielson is that person to me.
Nicola Henderson Danielson is that person to everyone she meets.
She is a devoted wife, a loving mother, a loyal friend.
She is that neighbour who’s door is always open, that person who doesn’t know the word no and the last person who would ever ask for your help… Even though she needs it the most.
Nicola was born severely and profoundly deaf and then at the age of 13 she was diagnosed with Usher Syndrome Type 1, and if you are like me I bet you have probably never heard of it before.
Usher Syndrome Type 1 - the most severe form, is a genetic condition that causes sensorineural hearing loss at birth and an eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa (RP). RP causes night-blindness and loss of peripheral vision through the degeneration of the retina, but then progresses rapidly until the person becomes completely blind.
Yes, you heard me right.
She is Deaf and now she is going Blind
My name is Kylee Kendall and I have set up this page to ask for your help to support this amazing woman – my friend Nicola and her incredible family as they embark on this mission to save her sight.
While there is no cure for Usher’s Syndrome, there is a tiny ray of hope that lies in a clinical study being conducted by Professor Casson at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia. This study uses NIR lasers that will stimulate a healing response to injured cell functions of the eye in a hope of improving vision and stopping any further deterioration.
This is Nicola's only option to save her sight.
So, with the support of Kellie M Barber Shop at Upper Coomera and St George Bank Coomera, we have set this target of 30k and on Saturday 1st June 2019 at 2pm broadcast live through Facebook and Instagram Nicola will be shaving my head inside Kellie’s M Barber Shop.
All funds raised will go into a trust account set up for Nicola that will be used to cover costs associated with the study in Adelaide commencing in July 2019 – Flights, Accommodation/Rent, Medications, Food, Parking and many other things. These things still need to be paid for and the less they need to worry about during this time the more they can focus on a positive outcome.
You can follow along on Nicola's journey through the Facebook page “Through her Eyes - Shave for Sight ” and I will also be providing regular updates to this appeal as well.
I cannot do this alone, I need your support, I need you to dig deep in your pockets and donate, I need you to share this with your friends, your family and your colleagues so we can reach our 30k target, because if it was you who needed this Nicola would be the first person to help.
Love and Sight to you all, and thank you
