My name is Santiago Barbara. I’m 26 years old, I’m on the autism spectrum, and I’m an aspiring filmmaker.
For the past four years, I’ve been developing a deeply personal project exploring what it feels like to experience the world through a neurodivergent lens.
As someone on the spectrum, my relationship to sound, emotion, and human interaction often differs from the way these experiences are traditionally portrayed in film. This project is my attempt to translate that perspective into something visual, emotional, and immersive.
Rather than telling a story about autism from the outside looking in, this film is created from lived experience. It’s designed to place audiences inside a sensory and emotional reality that can feel overwhelming, isolating, beautiful, and deeply human all at once.
But this project is also about family, friendship, and community—the people who support us, try to understand us, and remind us that we’re never truly alone. Those connections can make all the difference for individuals on the spectrum, and that’s something I want this film to reflect.
More than anything, this project is about connection, understanding, and giving voice to experiences that are too often overlooked.
My team and I are still at the beginning of this journey, but we continue pushing forward because we believe stories like this deserve to be seen.

Funds raised through our GoFundMe will go directly toward the production of Through Her Eyes, helping us cover essential filmmaking expenses such as equipment rentals, location costs, cast and crew expenses, transportation, production design, costumes, meals, and post-production.
A portion of the funds will also support editing, sound design, an original soundtrack, color correction, and other finishing costs needed to bring the film to a professional standard.
