Thriving Post Production

What do you really know about your closest friends? Thriving sheds a light on things we hide from those we love the most because of our shame.

Hi there! My name is Tia and I'm an emerging filmmaker and actor based out of Toronto. Over the last year, my closest friends and I have been working on a passion project called Thriving.

You always think you're struggling more than your friends. You are unavoidably the main character of your own story. Since Becca, Ceci, and August are all the main characters in their lives they just can’t seem to see eye to eye. Thriving, a short film in three acts, shows us what this looks like for these former best friends turned roommates. Each act is shot in a different film style, complimenting each roommate and their challenges. And we're let into their shame through intimate moments of solitude when they think nobody's watching.

In September we took the leap and went into production for Thriving. Although it was self-funded, the only reason it was made possible was because of the huge outpour of generous support from friends. In-kind donations through volunteering their time and skills, and allowing us to use huge amounts of equipment for free, were invaluable to the project. Everyone worked so hard on our 7-day long shoot and we came out the other end with a lot of beautiful footage.

We are going into post-production now, and we need your help! Our goal is to raise $6000 to help pay our post-production team's fees. A lot of time and care is required for this step in filmmaking, and we want to respect everyone's generous contributions so far by making it as good as it can be.

How we'll use the money:

Although we were able to pay for production out of pocket, post-production is where a lot of a budget needs to go to ensure the story is given the care it needs.

Editor: $1800

Assistant Editor: $500

Colouring: $1000

Sound Mixing: $1000

Composing: $1000

Teaser Edit: $800

Total: $6000

What will we do if we don't get all the money?

The project will continue into post-production as planned, and we'll find cheaper solutions to problems where possible.

Next steps for Thriving:

Once Thriving is complete we plan to use both the teaser we create and the 3 completed episodes as advertising for further funding to create our little 3-act short film into a 10-episode web mini-series.
