Three Ukranian Children Continue their Education
Donation protected
Hi.
My name is Daniel Zubarev, and I am a pupil at St Paul’s School in London. My mother is Ukrainian, and, as a family, we have become very involved in helping Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war. Their world has been turned upside down, schools closed, houses bombed, communities blown apart, and even classmates killed.
I made friends with three children and got a strong feeling that they only had a past but no future. However, now that they were in a safe and friendly country, they could dare to think beyond the present, and one of the most important improvements they could make to their lives was to learn proper English. So I decided there and then to try to help them and, after a lot of research, I have found an excellent Summer School Programme based at Felsted School in Essex where they can join an intensive English Language course.
Sadly the programme is not free, because teachers must be paid and accommodation must be found. I am therefore reaching out to everyone I can to ask for some financial support, however small, so that my three new friends can take advantage of this course and start to make their future their own again.
Their stories:
1. "My name is Sasha, I am from Irpen. I am 13. Until 24th February, I was going to school. Now, my school is ruined. I had 11 awards Maths and Physics competitions. We had to leave our hometown. Now we will start life in London with the hope to come back to Ukraine as soon as possible."
2. "I am Tina, I am from Kiev. This is my second start to a new life. In 2014 we ran from Donetsk and now we have had to run again. I really miss my school."
3. "My name is Andrey. I am 16. I had my plans for university and still hope to make my plans come true. Now I understand how the knowledge of language gives us opportunities. Hope with your support will improve my English more and more."
Thank you for your support.
