Help Three Students Afford a Winter Break Project
Donation protected
Our names are Lars Westenbarger, Noble Walter-Hawkins, and Frankie Mizikowski. We are freshman students at Oberlin College. At Oberlin, you are required to complete three winter terms, a multidisciplinary project through the month of January where students are encouraged to pursue passions and interests outside of their regular courses or major. For our group winter term, we decided to develop a script for a Mafia film which we have been discussing for some time now. Another major part of our project is that we will be traveling around the American Northeast, visiting various haunted locations to gather inspiration. One of our learning goals is to practice the craft of writing while experiencing the world in unfamiliar territory. We will constantly be researching the history of any museum or site we visit with the intention of taking away key lessons to incorporate into our own writing. With this trip, we hope to get a chance to make this winter term more than the ordinary month of formal education that we're used to. However there is one problem: Neither us nor our school are able to fund essential needs such as food, gas, and lodging.
Why You Should Consider Donating: Without necessary funds, the trip will either be greatly shortened or cancelled entirely. We also do not believe it is fair to place the financial burden on our parents. In addition, we understand that this favor is a lot to ask for simply a winter break project. So in light of the holiday spirit, as a special gift to you for donating, we will email you updates of our travels and progress in writing. Finally, sometime by the end of January or the beginning of February, we hope to have a completed first draft of our script to send to you. If you choose to donate, we would truly appreciate it as gift that moves us forward in our aspirations of filmmaking. Thank you!
