On the 30th September, we—Derm Farrell, Barry Quinn and Christopher McClean—will begin a challenging three-day trek to the summit of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa, standing at 13,671 feet (4,167 metres) above sea level. We will travel to Marrakech on 29th September before setting off on what will be an unforgettable 3 day journey, both physically and emotionally.

This challenge is deeply personal to all three of us. Each of us has been affected by cancer through the heartbreaking loss of loved ones or the ongoing illness of close family members. Like so many families, we have witnessed the strength, courage, and resilience that cancer patients show every single day. We wanted to take on a challenge that reflects that determination while raising vital funds to help others facing their own battles.

We are proud to be fundraising for HairToStay, a wonderful charity dedicated to helping women undergoing chemotherapy preserve their hair through scalp cooling (cold caps). Hair loss is one of the most visible and emotionally difficult side effects of chemotherapy. Studies have shown that up to 8% of women consider refusing or delaying chemotherapy because they fear losing their hair. HairToStay helps remove the financial barriers to scalp cooling treatment, giving patients the opportunity to maintain their sense of identity, confidence, and privacy during one of the toughest times of their lives.

The funds we raise will help provide financial assistance to access scalp cooling treatment during chemotherapy. No one should have to choose between receiving life-saving treatment and preserving a part of themselves that means so much.

In the months leading up to our climb, we will be hosting a variety of fundraising events throughout Philadelphia, and we would love for our community to get involved. Whether you attend an event, share our campaign, or make a donation, your support will make a real difference.

We are also reaching out to businesses who may wish to sponsor our challenge, donate prizes, support our events, or contribute in any way they can. Your partnership will directly help women who are facing cancer treatment and ensure they have access to the support they deserve.
