Support Jaime's Spinal Surgery

Hi! I'm Megan Wachalec and Jaime is my neighbor! I'll never forget the first time I met her. She walked past my house, said "hello" and we immediately hit it off. From the get-go, I could tell she was strong, independent, ambitious, friendly, full of life, and so loving. My goodness... the love!
Jaime knows no stranger. She is the first person willing to help out. She knows deeply the things that are truly important in life, and anyone who knows her and has her in their life simply knows they're lucky.
I joke when I say she brought everyone on our street together, but the truth is... that's just her nature. I am starting this GoFundMe because she needs our help... and I can tell you one thing for certain. She would never ask for it herself.
Time to step up for the friend that steps in for everyone else!
Here's the short and skinny:
Jaime's back is messed up (her words, not mine). Living with severe scoliosis is the number one problem that needs to be fixed. Problem number two is the mass in her spinal cord. Number three is the demyelinating disease (what happens when the myelin sheath that "protects" your nerves is damaged/disintegrates, causing more nerve damage). If you're close to Jaime, you know most of this. Problem number four is arthritis, but with everything else going on - this is the least of her concerns.
Her new neurologist is hopeful he can offer some relief by performing a spinal fusion ranging from T4 to L4, allowing her better mobility. Many other things are still up in the air, but surgery is the first step.
Recovery will be long and difficult with at least 2 months at home and off work. Jaime is adamant that the bulk of her care not fall on her dad, so anything we can do to support her will be pivotal to her recovery.
Medical bills are already piling up and my hope is that we can get ahead of the financial burden that is about to hit hard.
I know our girl will pull through with a smile and a positive attitude (as she always does), but sometimes it's nice not to have to do it alone. Let's rally together and take care of her as much as she takes care of everyone else!
Surgery is scheduled to happen sometime in late May or early June. I will post updates as I know more ❤️
