Hi everyone,  

My name is Angela Matamua Lemafa and I have been married for 26 years to Etene. Together we share 8 beautiful children and 3 beautiful grand children. 

 July 2015 My husband  Etene was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease ALS.

Motor neurone disease (MND) is the name given to a group of diseases in which the nerve cells (neurones) controlling the muscles that enable us to move, speak, breathe and swallow undergo degeneration and die. Motor function is controlled by the upper motor neurones in the brain that descend to the spinal cord; these neurones activate lower motor neurones.  The lower motor neurones exit the spinal cord and directly activate muscles.  With no nerves to activate them, muscles gradually weaken and waste. MND can affect a person’s ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.  Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in many parts of the world, and also as Lou Gehrig's disease in the USA.

We have been informed by our specialist that our time with Etene is now limited and precious as the disease is progressing faster then what were initially informed. I am now Etene’s full time care taker and we have had wonderful support and help through our family, friends and medical staff and for that we will forever be grateful. However all expenses are not covered by our insurance. Can you please help us, any donations will be appreciated by our family or even your prayers. Thank you for your loving help and support.
