Thor’s plea for life
Donation protected
I’m Justine. I’m fundraising for my boy, Thor to try to give him a new leg.
He is a rescue from the awful life of abuse, he was born to fight other dogs. He never wanted to, despite being forced by starvation and beating, chained and tortured.
Thor is my best friend, proud, extremely intelligent, loves life, and has very strong need to protect- we walking around our town to make sure everyone is safe and well behaved. He sits by the kids playgrounds looks after kids, protects his mum and brother cat.
But… due to his previous life of abuse for his first 17 months of life, his health is affected enormously. He has spondylosis, both elbows dysplasia. Right front leg has no joint at all now, when he walks, bones are crushing each other. We had many surgeries to help, we have been in many places for 4 years to have surgeries, physio. Unfortunately his elbow can’t be fixed, it’s too far damaged for replacement. Our only option is to fuse leg bones, with an implant to hold them together to prevent dislocating. This is very expensive operation. He has insurance but it will cover only about 50% of cost. And that’s only when it’s renewed, he is on so many medications to help him walking and stay as fit as possible, this term is almost over with his cover. This year he was diagnosed with sciatica, another painful condition. On the day I was calling vets to see them as he suddenly couldn’t walk, we have been attacked by the neighbour. In my boys defence I have sustained life changing injury. I can’t work now, I’m struggling with my mental health. I’m doing my best for Thor but I can’t pay all my bills and save any money. Even when I was working full time I barely could pay all the bills and food for us.
Another reason why his insurance is almost exhausted- years of various medications, mainly painkillers, damaged his not so great anyway stomach. Latest problem is suspected stomach ulcers. To have an investigation done I have to use all we have left on this term insurance. That means I would have to find money to buy his regular meds, that’s about £200 a month. That also means I can’t prepare him this term for the operation. We need to do CT scan to prepare an implant to hold his bones together.
This dog and my 2 cats are all I have, I don’t care about anything else, I’m not going out apart from his walks. I’m not spending much money on myself, I don’t need much.
Please help me to save my boy, so he can keep working hard looking after everyone’s safety in his town.
