Thorn Kurtzhals is a comic book artist known for his hit series; Girls Have A Blog on Webtoon. Currently, there is no union for comic book artists. All medical expenses thus far have been out of pocket. By donating to this gofundme you are helping him receive life-saving surgery.

MY STORY

My transition began in May 2021. I was sitting on my bed my iPad in my lap and a few ideas in mind.

My first step: I was going to name myself.

Despite how much I tried to think of other ideas, Thorn stuck. The name Thorn came to mind because of my Mother, Ann. She originally was going to name me Rose, after my Great Grandmother. I've gone by Thorn with my close friends and family ever since.

In August 2021, I began my journey to start Testosterone Injections, creating a long-term relationship with a Primary Care doctor specializing in LGBTQIA+ patients. I visit the office nearly every other month for blood work.

It was during this time that I realized that I finally cared about myself. In the beginning of September, I signed up for a waitlist for a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy treatment center known for specializing in patients with PTSD and Borderline Personality Disorder.

Since beginning this program in May 2022, I have become completely sober and have finally tackled the trauma that has prevented me from living a life worth living.

The result of this, however, has been nearly half a year of almost full-time therapy work. By supporting this gofundme, you will be helping me pay for this life-saving surgery and therapy.

I know that I was ready to change when I first started to transition. Through watching drag and learning about the LGBTQIA+ community, I saw so much of the freedom LGBTQIA+ people felt and how they lived their truth despite their troubles.

I wanted to finally live my truth because living was unbearable.

I am trans because it is my truth.

And my truth has set me free."
