Hello everyone.... We need your help!
We have an amazing service opportunity coming up this summer through our church, Journey Church. The Casa del Buen Trato shelter, in Huanuco, Peru is a safe house for young survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Currently, Peru has one of the highest rates of child sexual abuse and rape in the world. This has been attributed to alcoholism, illiteracy, and corruption within the local government.
The Casa del Buen Trato provides food, shelter, and emotional care for the victims of abuse as well as for the infants born out of such abuse. Many victims, still children themselves, have been impregnated in these atrocious assaults. This shelter helps these survivors as well as the unexpected infants born through such heinous attacks.The Casa del Buen Trato also partners with Paz y Esperanza (Peace and Hope), a Christian Human Rights Organization in Latin America that works alongside individuals, families and communities in poverty, so that they can live with dignity, free from violence and injustice. Through their combined efforts, these victims are given a comprehensive approach for healing, restoration, and justice. But most importantly, they are shown the love of Jesus :)
Our mission is to service the shelter in any way needed. We will help build new buildings, paint and restore existing buildings in disrepair, as well as assist in maintaining the grounds and gardens, which supply food to the residents and workers of the shelter. We can best serve this organization by supporting the committed and invested caregivers and counselors who give their heart and soul to this extremely difficult ministry. Our work allows them to focus all of their energy on the young girls recovering from such violation of their bodies and souls. Our goal is to love them through our labor as well as through our emotional and spiritual support.
You can partner with us in this journey in many ways. FIRST, please pray!!! Pray that we can show the depth of the love Christ has for each individual we encounter. Second, by supporting us financially on this mission. The cost of this trip is around $2200 per person.
