On November 8th, Thomas Vann was in a hunting accident. He was coming down from the tree when the strap on his climber broke, falling six to eight feet onto his face. He sustained multiple cervical fractures and injuries to his C5 and C6 vertebrae in his neck. He currently has no feeling from his chest down and is suffering from paralysis in his lower extremeties. The amazing doctors at Navicent Health in Macon, GA were able to stabalize his injuries and have now been moved to the Shepard Center in Atlanta, GA for the next step in his journey. The Shepard Center specializes in spinal cord injuries and is one of the top centers in the country. As a family, we are hoping for the best as they help him regain as much function as possible. Thomas has a large emotional support system within his family and community. It is going to be a long journey for our Daddy.
Thomas is a family man and loyal friend. He has worked as a logger all his life and being active in an outdoor life. He is an avid hunter, fisherman, and archer. He began shooting archery as a young boy and has been hunting to provide for his family for more than 40 years. Also a member of ASA since 1993, Thomas has not only competed in tournaments, but also taught friends and famiy members the importance of hunter’s safety when using a bow and arrow and how to become proficient when using a bow. Our daddy has always led an active life and we hope that his journey will continue to support his love of hunting and the outdoors. At this time, we ask for your prayers and support during his recovery. We also would love to express our gratitude for all the well-wishes and love you have shown our family during our time of need. If you would like to donate to help pay for costs of lodging and other expenses our family incurs during this time, all will be appreciated. We continue to be thankful for prayers and God’s work as our daddy contiues on his road to recovery.
