Hello all you wonderful people out there in the dark!

I was so deeply touched by the outpouring of love and generosity that came when Tom was in the hospital. The visits, the messages, and the incredible support reaffirmed what we all knew—that Tom was truly one in a million. He meant so much to so many, and words cannot express how grateful I am for the love shown to him, to me, and to all of us during that time.

I am also so thankful for the donations made to the original GoFundMe. Though we had to refund those contributions when plans for his care changed, I was overwhelmed by your generosity and your willingness to help.

Now, along with Tom’s sisters—Maggie, Mary Jo, and Nancy—and his closest friends, I would like to honor Tom’s memory with something lasting: a memorial bench in Hunters Point South Park in Long Island City, one of Tom’s favorite places. This bench will be a place where friends, family, and anyone who loved him can visit, reflect, and celebrate the joy he brought into all of our lives.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to make this possible. I am, however, asking for small donations, anywhere from $5.00 to $50.00, no more, please. I want as many people as possible to feel that a part of this bench belongs to them. If we don't reach the goal, I will make up the difference. If we surpass the goal, then whatever is left will go to Calvary Brooklyn and the amazing staff there, who took such extraordinary care of him in his final weeks.

Together we can make this tribute a reality.
