Hello, my name is Kimberly McLean-Hunt.
My Christmas wish this year is to “Adopt A Park Bench To A Veteran ” in memory of my husband, Thomas Hunt, and his service to our country by way of a permanent plaque in “Brookdale Park” located in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
Tom and I loved our walks during the spring, summer, and fall months. Our walks together gave us time to catch up with one another and allowed us to cuddle on our favorite park bench. Afterwards we would walk across the street to “Holsten’s Ice Cream Shop”; built in the 1950’s. This old-fashioned candy and ice cream parlor, and diner served as the setting for one of TV’s most controversial series finales “The Sopranos”. Tom loved the old tradition of candy counters, soda fountains, root beer floats and jukeboxes playing at your table. A tradition that will always remain forever in my heart.
Both sides of a double park bench may be adopted for a donation of $1,500. Your donations will be made to the Essex County Park System located at 115 Clifton Ave, Newark, New Jersey 07104, and will go directly into a general fund for maintenance and improvement of the Essex County Parks.
If you care to donate this holiday season it would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your support to serve our community.
Kind Regards,
Kimberly McLean-Hunt
