Thomas Hucker Studio - shop fire

Donation protected
On December 20 there was an explosion and fire in a mixed use factory building in Hoboken, New Jersey. There was extensive fire, smoke, and water damage. Two days later the fire erupted again and caused more destruction. Over a dozen businesses were affected, including the woodworking shop of Thom Hucker and Kalle Fauset. They are now forced to look for new space and equipment. Work in progress was lost, machinery ruined and tools that are the life-blood of the craft are probably gone.

The explosion and fire did not originate in their space. They are victims of this horrible situation.

Thom and Kalle will have extraordinary expenses getting back to work. If machinery can be salvaged it will require riggers lifting the heavy equipment from the third floor and moving it to a new location. The machines will need to be renovated and restored from water and fire damage. Thom and Kalle will need to re-stock lumber and plywood. Then machines will needed wiring. Computers hooked up, etc.

It will probably be months before Thom and Kalle can return to work.

A fire is every craftsperson's nightmare. Costs are difficult to estimate, but if you can help get these talented guys back to work it would be truly appreciated.

Thanks so much.
