My name is Thomas Hamilton, aged 17 years, and I am seeking sponsorship to represent Great Britain at the European Transplant Games, where I will compete in the 100m, 200m, and relay events.
When I was 14, I was diagnosed with a very rare autoimmune disease that led to kidney failure. After 14 months on dialysis, I received a lifesaving kidney transplant from my dad in September 2024, which has allowed me to return to a more normal life and to pursue my sport and passion—sprinting.
In July 2025, I won gold in the 100m sprint at the British Transplant Games. I have since been accepted to represent Team GB at the European Transplant Games, taking place in Arnhem, The Netherlands, from 21–27 June 2026.
Held every two years, the European Transplant Games are a flagship event in the transplant sporting calendar. They promote organ donation across Europe and feature a week of competition across 15 sports. Team GB will join an anticipated 1,000 transplant athletes (juniors and adults) and live donors from across Europe.
All competitors at the Games are organ transplant recipients—heart, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas, small bowel, or bone marrow. Beyond the physical challenge, the Games showcase the life-changing impact of transplantation and highlight the urgent need for organ donors.
As a member of Team GB, I am required to self-fund transport, accommodation, the mandatory training day in Oxford, and team training sessions. The total cost of my preparation and participation in Arnhem is approximately £1,500, in addition to this i also have to fund my individual training, food, team kit and travel insurance (which is costly due to medical conditions) any contribution you can make would be hugely appreciated.
All sponsors will be acknowledged on my personal Instagram account, where I will share race footage from the Games and updates from other competitions throughout 2026.
