On July 2, 2020 Tom went into the hospital. Over the past month his health dramatically started to deteriorate, he lost over 40 pounds and just couldn't get the energy to get out of bed. That Thursday that he checked into the hospital they notified him and his family that he had liver cancer.
The doctors moved fairly quickly. From that point he had upcoming doctors appointments to figure out what cancer he had and how far along it was. The news hasn't been good. Each appointment the diagnosis becomes more detrimental. The last appointment the doctors came to a conclusion he many only have about Three months to live.
Tom is an outstanding human. Not only did he serve his country in the Navy but he dedicated his life to serving the people. He was a K-9 sheriff in Camden County his entire career until he retired a few years back. He is the type of cop you admire and strive to be like. The type of father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend that we all can't imagine our lives without. He's the real deal.
Everyone loves Tom and his stories of triumph. His career as a sheriff he has accomplished so much good. His dog retired with him and lived at his home with the rest of the family. He is the type of man who you could call at any time in need of help. Trust that just I personally have called him asking for advice many of times and it was always the best.
I am making this gofundme in hope to just give a little back to him. Since the diagnosis the bills have started to come in. One pain medication is 1,200 dollars for a script that lasts ONE month. He wants to fight and beat this prognosis. We want to fight with him and we know that comes with a great financial burden that Tom and his family could have ever predicted they would face along with an unforeseeable future outcome.
We will be eternally grateful for anything we receive. Prays and positive thoughts would be so wonderful. I appreciate the consideration to read Tom's story.
Thank you all.
