Thomas County Deputies Fundraiser
Donation protected
As many of you are aware, 2 of our Deputies were shot in the line of duty, and a third was shot at, on Monday January 10, 2022. The Deputies shot were Sgt. Brandon Hill and Deputy Josh Fletcher. Cpl. Ray Sturrup was also shot at, but by the Grace of God, he was not struck.
Sgt. Hill required nearly a week-long hospital stay in order to begin healing from his wounds. The bullet missed Sgt. Hill’s vest by less than an inch. Sgt. Hill suffered multiple broken ribs and a broken sternum. He was released from the hospital on January 17 and is continuing his road to recovery.
Deputy Fletcher was shot in the vest, and the vest defeated the round. Deputy Fletcher suffered a large bruise and swelling but is back on the job.
Cpl. Sturrup was shot at, nearly point-blank, but thankfully was not struck by the round.
Tyler Henderson was arrested on January 16, 2022 and charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime and 3 counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. (More charges are pending.)
The money will be split evenly among the three deputies. Money raised will be used to cover any uncovered medical expenses.
