Carlo Scarambone Needs Your Help

One night last fall our dear friend Carlo Scarambone was driving from a party to the home he shares with his wife Mon, in the outskirts of a small Thai town not far from the Burmese border.   He had finally put his myeloma (cancer of the blood cells) more or less into remission, and was looking forward to better times.   He says he was neither drinking or  driving fast.  Yet somehow he crashed into a bridge.  Mon put him into an ambulance and they drove to Bangkok which is hours away.  His condition was then critical, and remains so after many additional and costly stays in the hospital.

Oleg and I visited him in the hospital in Thailand on December 8, 2015 and then at his home near Ranong.
He was, as always, charming and entertaining, but in despair of the strain his new medical condition had on finances already depleted by cancer treatments.  Two more stays in the hospital, and as he writes, there was no more money. 

Carlo and Mon have decided to leave Thailand for Italy where there is universal health care. Thanks to the generosity of Jack Arbib, they will have a place to live in San Savino.  Mon plans to open a massage parlor there to support Carlo and herself.   Carlo writes that they need $5,000 to do this.  I hope that each of his friends from all over the world will contribute whatever they can to make this possible.
