Okay Niki's Army - it's time to rise and conquer!
This site is for Nicole Whitley to help with medical expenses in her battle with cancer.
For those of you that don't know much about Nicole, here is my summary of what kind of amazing woman Nicole is:
What anyone first notices about Niki is that amazing, open, warm, loving, gargantuan smile! She is nothing short of enamoring with her smile and then comes her contagious laugh. This girl is full of love, courage, kindness, and humility. She judges no one and offers love and support to all that allow her in.
This young, talented, driven beauty was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2014. Not particularly rare cancer, but rare in a 29 year old. Nicole fought hard - and when I say hard, imagine fighting with all your might for the most important thing in life and triple it! This girl kept working, kicked chemo in the teeth along with surgeries (notwithstanding the "shit bag" as it was lovingly referred to), started a new BNI chapter in her spare time - and not any BNI chapter - a Hall of Fame BNI chapter, took advantage of personal development and became a U the Leader and trudged through a divorce. Most of us would have quit at the diagnosis.
And.....tadaaa! She kicked cancer's ass good! Gone! Gone in March 2015 and there was celebrating! Celebrating the eradication of cancer in her body and her 30th birthday!
Just two months later in May, Niki was re-diagnosed with peritoneal metastasis, meaning the cancer had spread to the lining of her abdomen. The air had been sucked out of the room and the thought of doing that massive fight all over again was daunting to say the least. When you don't know what the next step looks like, sometimes it's easier to leap. When you know what it looks like, it's a lot harder. Niki has engaged her Army (#thisgirlnikisarmy) for love, prayer, and support. She is fighting hard again - has taken chemo to the teeth more than once and is working to rid her body once again.
In the midst of all this, Niki has found her soul mate, her true love, the yin to her yang, in Sean. They are the most in love couple I have ever seen. The love they have for one another is like nothing I've witnessed before. They vowed their love to each other last November in an intimate ceremony. Sean is an absolute rock and an amazing husband and best friend to Nicole. The two of them have been fighting hard and working to enjoy the life they have as well.
What I ask from you in addition to all the wonderful love, prayers and support is to contribute financially to help cover Nicole's medical costs. She has had three hospital stays in less than seven weeks each running in the $25k range per visit. While insurance helps, Mayo Clinic (and many other cancer specific services) are not "in network" and so the assistance is minimal. In addition, a very specific diet is required due to Nicole's type of cancer. The couple are also exploring the Gerson Institute to supplement treatment which is not covered by insurance and a 100% out of pocket cost. The Gerson Therapy is often used to recover from chronic degenerative diseases such as cancer and is known to dramatically improve, and in some cases reverse, disease. The cost for the Gerson Institute is approximately $20,000.
For all that Nicole has given to all of us, I look forward to giving back to her in this time of need. She is such a humble, strong woman and taking some of the financial burden off she and Sean's shoulders will mean the world to them. Please reach out with any questions or concerns. On behalf of Nicole and Sean, I thank you in advance for considering providing financial support for this amazing couple and Niki's battle. We got this!!
