Help Bringing a Service Dog Home

Donation protected

Hey guys, this is Lani, my service dog in-training. I'm finally telling you about my bipolar depression, my severe OCD, and my panic attacks. This psychiatric service dog really could change everything. PLEASE do me a favor and repost the link. It would help bring her home. I can only pray that enough people find the link, and the right people find the link. God bless everyone, and thank you even for your attention

Misdiagnosis of ADHD in childhood sent me plummeting downward, just like ADHD meds usually do for bi-polar patients. Frustrated, I just tried to brush it off. I felt like I needed to hide about my extremes. Now, I am finally able to stop hiding about my diagnoses, suffering from Bipolar Depression (BP2), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Generalized Anxiety (just a nice way of saying “panic attacks” without a specific thing to cause it).

Knowing that disorders overlap, every second, control needs to be had, over not only the extreme mood fluctuations of BP2, but all while controlling that evil, little, destructive,  voice saying "you NEED to do this"; a voice that can completely halt every mental task, taking focus away from every other thing around you. When that mental roadblock hits, reality gets lost, and a hypomanic episode has erupted. It's destructive to myself, causing countless self-inflicted concussions and hospitilizations from "trying to snap back to reality."

For 4 years now, Professional after another have said “let’s try this.. but if it gets worse let me know, and we will do this.” There’s no standardized treatment, and a lot of times, OCD and bipolar when stand-alone need layers of treatment… fun having both, right? Medication can only go so far.

A potential service dog's training is extensive, laborious, and highly interactive. Shown to be life saving in not only my conditions, more well known mentall illnesses, like PTSD, ADHD, and the Autistic Spectrum.

The puppies are specifically and selectively bred for the purpose of becoming a service dog; not every dog has the mental capacity to become a service dog. Most service dogs are around 1-year of age, most of which whom are trained from puppy-hood. Also, service dog training facilities are not exactly easy to find. It is intensive for both the puppy, trainer, and handler. All of that basically means there is an intense monetary cost on our end to make this possible.  Please help us make this treatment possible.
Goals for Lani include;

- Deep Pressure Therapy, Pet Therapy, Hug Therapy.

They might seem like easy tasks, but in reality, it takes extensive training for a service dog to be able to recognize their handler’s needs and act upon them. This is where the hard part really begins.

Being so caught up on controlling the extremes of not only BP2 and OCD, episodes aren't realized until it is far too late. This is the biggest reason why I need Lani with me 24/7.

After many hospitalizations from self-inflicted harm, many medication adjustments, many years of distortingly extreme emotional fluctuations, after so many panic attacks, and so many seemingly endless depressive episodes later, this dog has the potential to change everything for the better. Please help us bring Lani home.

Doggie do good, http://www.doggiedogood.com/, have amazing programs for dogs, not only service animals but for family dogs as well. They work closely with breeders to ensure the puppy's health and performance ability. Their expertise is one of the reasons why we trust them with this lifelong endeavor we are facing, but their expertise is also one of the reasons why their services are so expensive. Excludingthe lifestyle changes that need to occur when taking in a service dog as an all-day life-long companion... we are undergoing a drastic life change and need your help.

My doctors have expressed their full support, but YOUR support is the one that can make the most difference. Here is just one of the many sources expressing the abilities of dogs as psychiatric service animals. http://pleasedontpetme.com/psd.php.

I am a newly transferred junior at San Francisco State University, and an aspiring educator. Previously graduating from my local Community College, Phi Theta Kappa, Cum Laude, with an AA-T in Psychology. I am striving to be able to help people succeed. I have an inherit drive to help people, but I kind of can't unless I have you help.

Above all, please help spread the word. People don't know about dog’s psychiatric service abilities. I hope that spreading the word will help prevent someone from suffering just as I have for so long. I may be able to keep a professional and happy face on, but that is a mask only a small number of people can see through. I need help taking the mask off.

Your time, efforts, kindness.... I cannot express enough how thankful my family and I are. Even just by sharing, you're not only helping save my life, but someone else who is suffering just as I, all thanks to you.
