This Round is For Bobby: Myrtle Beach Golf Community Rallies To Aid Of Ailing Head Pro

The Myrtle Beach golf community spans 60 miles of Carolinas coastline and includes 90 courses but the industry is, at heart, a big family.

When facing hardship, families rally around their own, and the Myrtle Beach golf industry is again stepping to the plate.

Bobby McCullough, the highly regarded head pro at River Hills Golf Club, is battling stage 4 melanoma, a virulent form of skin cancer, and River Hills will be hosting a benefit in his honor on August 28th.

McCullough, who started as a caddie when he was 12 years old, has spent most of his life in the game. He started his career at Sea Gull Golf Club in Myrtle Beach and has worked at Burning Ridge, Wachesaw Plantation, River Club and Indian Wells before taking the reins at River Hills.

While McCullough spent most of his career quietly running courses with great care and efficiency, he attracted the spotlight when he saved a man’s life at the World Amateur Handicap Championship.

As McCullough faces one of the world’s most dreaded diseases, the Myrtle Beach golf community is coming to his aid through a charity golf tournament and donations.
