Hi, I’m Rai and this is Ruby Rider! I am a single cat parent living in Chicago. Ruby Rider recently turned one year old and has already racked up hundreds of dollars in medical bills.

You see, Ruby has been a very sick kitten. He has an unknown neurological condition and gastrointestinal issues that cause him to vomit frequently despite being on several anti-nausea medications. To doctors, he is a complete “medical mystery!”

I work at an animal hospital that offers employee discounts, but I have an outstanding bill from performing several X-rays, varying blood tests, and other medical treatments on Ruby to try to figure out what’s wrong with him. I managed to get his medical bill down to $1,700, but my job takes $100 from every check, and it’s getting overwhelming to afford on my own when there are still more tests and treatments to try!

Most recently, we were referred to see an Internal Medicine specialist for his consistent vomiting, but the consultation is $300 upfront. This does not include treatment. I have been trying to save up for this consultation, but money has been tight since I live paycheck to paycheck without financial support.

In this vulnerable moment, I am reaching out to my community and asking for help. Words cannot describe how dear Ruby Rider is to my heart. I am doing everything I can possibly do to get him the care he needs to feel better, but I am struggling on my own.
