We are excited to present our short film This Old Magpie. Shot on beautiful 16mm film we hope to capture and share with you a unique and powerful story that will both, have you laughing and pull at those delicate heartstrings of yours.
Synopsis
We follow the story of an elderly woman's journey to deal with the loss and grief of her son. As her relationship to the outside world hangs in the balance she holds on to the last connection she has to her son, stealing the small stickers off licence plates. In her attempt to continue his ritual she must venture out from the peace and tranquillity of her home and is forced to interact with the world once again.
Budget
We would love your help in funding this short film and are excited to share this wonderful story with you. Purchasing and processing 16mm is a costly matter, so a majority of the funds will be allocated to this. Contributions will also go towards equipment hire, production design, talent, travel expenses and possible permits. All donations will be used solely on these costs and any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Our Director Minnie has an interest in highlighting stories about outsiders and those living on the periphery. Reflecting upon the motives behind collecting paraphernalia, the story came from watching interactions between strangers and the environments around them.
Our Head Writer, Lucinda Issell, is a passionate and driven writer. Though new to the world of writing professionally they have written and consulted on many personal project and scripts. Through their experimentation with writing over the years, they have found a unique and playful writing style that we are sure you’re going to love.
Our Director of Photography, John Larkin, has filmed, directed and edited a plethora of short films, music videos and advertisements. Working with artists such as Ocean Grove and Eco$ystem and brands like i.am.gia and Dunlop Volley. He is excited to bring this previous experience and capture something breathtaking on 16mm film.
Our whole team is ecstatic with the opportunity to create and share with you ‘This Old Magpie’. We are very grateful to you for all your support.
