Last week my car acted up and had to be towed by AAA.ï   The mechanic originally thought it would be less than $1,000 to repair.  Today I learned the initial estimate was wrong due to new information.  Although they tried to repair as cheaply as possible, final inspection shows that the entire transmission was burnt and needs to be totally replaced.  The final estimate is $4,900.

I need my car for a lot of reasons. My home isn't near viable public transit. I use my car to support myself as well as giving me freedom of mobility.  On top of my recent move this is a real strain on my finances.

My training has been that as a priest. That meant I was trained to I give of myself until it hurts, and to give help to others.  So, it feels like even more of an embarrassment to have to ask for help, as if the car breaking is my personal failure.  I realize that this past year has been difficult on everyone with the pandemic, people being out of work, and every other struggle.  This complicates my guilt ïn having to ask for assistance. However, I need to ask for help.
