Emergency Help for a Hardworking Mother Fighting to Keep Her Home
My name is Elizabeth Ramirez, and I am a 42-year-old Venezuelan mother of two beautiful children (ages 10 and 4). Today, I am reaching out with humility and hope, because my family is facing a critical financial emergency that threatens our home and basic utilities.
Over the past two years, my family has endured extreme hardship. In 2023, my husband suffered serious health and mental health challenges that led to our marital separation and left me carrying nearly all financial responsibility for our household.
That same year, my children and I were evicted and spent three painful months living in a hotel. In December 2023, we were blessed to be accepted into a housing assistance program for families in crisis. In 2024, we finally moved into a rent-to-own home — a place that gave my children stability, safety, and hope again.
Unfortunately, our struggles did not end there. My husband obtained a part-time job with Disney, but due to his health condition, he has not received work shifts since October. To survive, I took multiple personal loans to pay rent, utilities, and even my real estate licensing fees so I could continue working toward financial independence.
At this moment, my employer is deducting $1,000 per week from my paycheck, which has left me unable to cover our most basic expenses. Our rent is due February 10, and without help, my children and I are at immediate risk of losing our home and having our utilities disconnected.
I am humbly asking for $4,500 in emergency assistance to stabilize my family:
• $3,333 – Rent (to prevent eviction)
• $1,200 – Utilities (electricity, water, internet)
I can provide documentation, billing statements, and media interviews (Telemundo & Univision) that previously documented our housing crisis.
Any donation — no matter the size — will directly help keep a roof over my children’s heads and allow me to continue working to rebuild our lives through my real estate career.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your kindness can truly change our lives.
With gratitude,
Elizabeth Ramirez
