Arun Wurms is my best friend. Anyone who has met Arun and knows that he is just one of the greatest humans that walks this planet. He has always put everyone above himself with ZERO expectations.

Any help would be Amazing!!! The funds will be going directly to Erin Wurms (Arun would blow it all on pie deliveries) Arun and Erin would never ask for help. But with the anticipated healthcare costs I don't want Arun or Erin worrying about money

Honestly, where do I possibly begin. The last 48 hours have turned my life upside down.

Monday night I arrived home from work and promptly felt a sharp pain in my back just adjacent to my left shoulder blade. This was severely impacting my ability to breathe normally. So we quickly decided to pay a visit to the ER.

A few hours later after it was determined my blood work readings were abnormal, Kaiser elected to have me admitted.

Fast forward to today and after having undergone a myriad of tests including a bone marrow biopsy it has been confirmed I have Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Very aggressive cancer demands aggressive treatment so as of tomorrow I will be commencing chemotherapy for the next two weeks via IV. Then two weeks of recovery all here within the hospital. As to what happens at the end of these four weeks is yet to be determined. Devastating news to be sure, but I have to concentrate on the positives, I just have to. And those positives are numerous: A loving and selfless wife, rock solid family and reliable friends, quality healthcare, an understanding and empathetic boss. I have a virtual army of support which I most definitely am going to call upon in the coming weeks and months.

Tears have been shed and there will be many more to come. I know the level of love and support will overwhelm me, and I want to thank each and every one of you in advance. It is appreciated more than I could ever express. Not to seem cliche, but life really is precious. Make the most of your time here on this earth and hug those near and dear that little bit tighter.
