Relocation

I, Sarah, come to you today on behalf of a beloved member of our community. This person has one of the biggest hearts I have ever known. They have centred their personal and professional life around helping those in need and unfortunately, they are now the one in a dire situation needing our help. This isn’t your typical GoFundMe, as unfortunately this family must keep their identities protected. They have been living the last several months in chaotic fear, waiting, and must now pack up the entirety of their lives and go into hiding. For their security, they must leave almost everything and everyone they know and love behind.

I know you must be asking a lot of questions by reading this, mainly “who?” and “why?”. Over the next few paragraphs, I will attempt to shed some light on an extremely dark and painful situation, without revealing too much so I can help protect this family that I hold dear.

A few years ago, a nightmare began to unravel. A child confided to a parent something no parent ever wants to hear, but unfortunately, happens more than we care to talk about. Sexual assault and molestation of anyone, especially a minor, is a serious crime. The person who committed these crimes was arrested, charged, and is currently incarcerated. While incarcerated, this individual’s obsession has been relentless, and they have plagued this family through numerous personal and legal channels. False allegations have wrecked havoc on an already painful situation that has rendered healing virtually impossible. The person who committed these crimes has made the lives of this family a living hell both pre and post arrest. They are a monster and frankly should have gotten life but that is not how Canadian law works.

I am sparing you the grotesque details of this situation, because seriously it’s enough to make your stomach turn. What this child went through breaks my heart, but they have shown strength and tenacity which gives me hope that with our help, they can heal from this pain.

The offender is scheduled to be released from prison in the coming weeks, and our friend has been advised by the authorities no matter what the parole conditions are, that it is likely the inmate will not adhere to them. Since the authorities cannot legally protect this family, they have advised them to relocate/go into hiding. Our friend has been frantically searching for accommodations in another part of the country, namely, a reasonably priced RV to be able to flea the province and remain on the move for their security.

Our friend is self-employed, and for the foreseeable future, will have to shut down their business. This is currently their sole source of income, which not only provides for their day-to-day needs, but for the medication, and expensive therapy they have been receiving. They have both suffered monumental levels of abuse at the hands of this monster and deserve to continue to process and heal from what has been done to them. They have lived in darkness and shadows for far too long, and they should be permitted to wake up every morning feeling safe, and not afraid for their lives. They have already had so much taken from them, if you could find it in your heart to help provide them some hope for a fresh start, I know they would appreciate it beyond words.
