Hi! My name is Kajus. I came to this world earlier than I was due. Ever since I was born, I have been accompanied by a lot of sicknesses. Some of them are in the past but some of them are still there.
My baby has a genetically rare mitochondrial disorder, when the cells in the body do not function well enough, which means that possible internal organ failure affects his overall energy. The whole body suffers from the lack of energy.
His muscle tone is extremely low. He is on medications to control the amount of lactate in the blood because it is higher than it should be and so on.
Kajus has a global developmental delay. He is unable to do things that 12-month-olds do. He is unable to lie down on his tummy, roll, grab, lift, hold a toy or crawl. He still cannot hold his head and sit independently. He has no eye contact.
My son has a mixed muscle tone which means that the leg muscles are too tight and the upper part of the body is too loose.
We would like to take him to the rehabilitaion center more than once so that in the future he would be able do what all the kids of his age do. He needs an intense care of the proffessional physiotherapists. Of course, after the rehab, we will have to work with him at home. He needs constant muscle trainings.
We already had the opportunity to visit Adeli centre in Slovakia. The two weeks we have spent there gave us a hope that we are going the right direction. Kajus has become more alert, stronger, he can hold the toy in his hand, little by little He is able to hold his head short periods of time... And this is all because of good people that have helped our family! The staff of Adeli centre were the first to understand our pain. They encouraged us to go ahead and fight for the most precious boy in the world.
We are planning to take Kajus to the Medical Center in Poland called Norman. We will also spend two weeks there. And again we need your help...
