Third time’s a ... crazy story!!
Donation protected
Hey there, friends and family!
Sam, my sister, has recently been diagnosed with cancer in her knee/femur (osteosarcoma) in May 2022. Many of you may already be familiar with her peculiar cancer history: DCIS treated with a double mastectomy in 2014 (age 26) and Acute Lymphoid Leukemia (ALL) [while pregnant with Ryleigh] treated at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami / Naples in 2017 (age 29). So, this came as quite the shock when it was confirmed that she had cancer for the third time. FYI, none of these cancers are related and are all very rare for her age… we have no family history, etc. If you have a question about it, it’s probably not related or a cause. It’s just weird. Also, if you don’t know her, she’s kind of a super health freak – which although hasn’t seemed to prevent cancer, has definitely promoted her general recovery and resiliency. Thanks superfoods and strength training!
This 3rd go round of treatment (ugh) will consist of multiple trips and inpatient stays at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. The basic gist: 10 weeks of hardcore chemo, total knee replacement and femur resection, followed with 20 more weeks of chemo. Her team at Moffitt is incredible and they are experts in treating osteosarcoma. She has already started one round and doing well! She’s super motivated, strong, focused and I am 100% confident she is going to kick this one to the curb just like the others.
Sam has a blog where she posts updates and it’s the best way to get all the information about her treatment, how she is doing, etc. It's some good reading.

Sam’s Venmo is: @Samantha-Rey-1
you could donate with a message saying “Third time support” or something like that
By the way, she did NOT ask me to make this fundraiser page, we (family and friends) just wanted to do something to help. Sam and primarily Edwin will be making many trips to Tampa – about a 2.5 hour drive, paying medical bills, needing some good, healthy food, meds, hotels/rentals, and anything else that could make this journey a little smoother. If you have any inclination to donate, that would be amazing (any amount counts!). If you could pray and send good vibes Sam and the fam’s way, that would be MOST appreciated. Thank you all. She has said many times, there’s no way she could do this without your all’s community support and encouragement! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
