Everest Challenge @ Third Ridge on Skye for SCAA
EVEREST CHALLENGE
8 AMATEUR CLIMBERS : 1 EPIC DAY : 8850 METRES
We are a group of bonkers climbers on Skye who have set ourselves a challenge - to climb the height of Mt Everest (8850 metres) in one day on our local climbing wall.
WHY?
The truly epic and idyllic island of Skye, the place we are lucky enough to call home, lies 100 miles from the nearest major hospital. The Scottish Charity Air Amublance (SCAA) provides a lifeline service to our remote island community. SCAA can be airborne with five minutes, to reach 90% of Scotland's population within 25 minutes, and relies 100% on funds from the public.
Georgia Combes - one of the instigators and organisers of this charity event - is a paramedic for the Scottish Ambulance Service and has witnessed, first hand, the amazing life-saving work this charity performs. As a group of individuals, who love the outdoors, we are acutely aware of the work the SCAA perform are are keen to assist Georgia in raising as much funds as possible.
WHERE?
The lovely folk at the Third Ridge climbing wall in Portree (Skye's capital) have kindly agreed to allow us to use the wall to complete this challenge on the 28th May. We will climb for up to 10 hours each - individually climbing 1,106 metres. This is no mean feat and we are sure all 8 of us will stretch our capabilites to the max.
TAPADH LEIBH : THANK YOU!
We thank you very kindly, in a time of financial difficulty for most, for your donation.
If you are unable to donate please consider sharing this fundraiser on your social media channels - every share counts and will help to raise further awareness with regards to this fantastic charity.
With heartfelt thanks,
Georgia, Alan, Eilidh, Chris, Manny, Rachel, Aimee + Layla
