"Things Are Good" - Short Film Fund
Donation protected
THINGS ARE GOOD is the UCLA Senior thesis short film written and directed by Jo Zhao. This experimental drama revolves around Vera - a high performing Asian-American high schooler obsessed with crafting a picture-perfect life for herself. Faced with a myriad of obstacles; a withering relationship, a disconnected home life, and the superficial pressure of an upcoming TV interview, Vera’s lifelong ability to deny and stifle her traumas reaches a breaking point. Through navigating her own tampered memories, Vera must confront her deepest fear - vulnerability - and embrace imperfections as an inevitable part of life. THINGS ARE GOOD is a cerebral journey that cinematically explores many important and timely themes such as adolescent mental health, the price of perfection, and toxic family/ relationship dynamics.
By donating to this campaign, you are directly helping to fund the Post production and distribution of THINGS ARE GOOD! The project has completed production in early December but is actively searching for financial support to assist with significant editing/VFX costs, festival entry fees and to help alleviate steep production costs that made this film possible. With a predominantly women and POC cast and crew, your donation helps to fund the next generation of diverse filmmakers. Any donation is appreciated and immensely valued by the THINGS ARE GOOD production team.
