This year I’m taking on the challenge of the London Marathon to raise money for the Thin Blue Paw Foundation, a charity that supports retired police dogs across the UK. Police dogs are incredible animals. Throughout their careers they show unwavering loyalty, bravery, and dedication, working tirelessly alongside their handlers to protect communities, track suspects, find missing people, and keep us all safe. They give everything they have during their service.

This cause is especially close to my heart. My partner has been a police dog handler for several years (having just finished this week), and through that I’ve seen first-hand the bond between handlers and their dogs and the extraordinary work these animals do every day. We’re also lucky enough to share our home with Molly, a retired police dog, and she’s a constant reminder of the dedication and spirit these dogs have. After years of service, dogs like Molly deserve the very best care in their retirement — and that’s exactly what Thin Blue Paw helps provide, supporting with veterinary bills, medical care, and wellbeing so they can enjoy the happy retirement they’ve earned.

Running 26.2 miles will be tough, but it’s nothing compared to the work these amazing dogs have done throughout their careers.
