Hi, my name is Peter and a few days ago, a Deliveroo rider we flagged down in the street very kindly helped me carry a heavy wardrobe down stairs. He gave me his number and came back later in the day to then help me load it into a van. While he was helping me, someone stole his electric bike. We saw it happen and chased the thief without being able to catch him.

What really stayed with me was his reaction. Before all this, he refused several times when I tried to give him some money to thank him for helping me. After the bike was stolen we were distraught but he told me it wasn’t my fault and walked away quietly, clearly very sad. I caught up with him because there was a bike he could borrow for as long as he needed and at that point I saw his tears. It was absolutely heartbreaking.

That bike is how he earns his living. Without it, he can’t work.

I’m raising money to help him buy a reliable second-hand electric bike, so he can get back to work as soon as possible.
