For over 32 years, Big D’s BBQ has been more than just a restaurant — it’s been family. It’s been community. It’s been Tallahassee.

Now, due to the FAMU Way Phase IV Project and plans for a new roundabout, the City of Tallahassee is moving to acquire the land Big D’s BBQ sits on through eminent domain.

We’re fighting to stay or relocate nearby — but this unexpected battle comes with major costs. If approved, we could potentially have less than 120 days to relocate.

Big D’s isn’t just a restaurant — it’s the heart of Southside Tallahassee. We’ve fed the community, supported youth entrepreneurs, partnered with schools, sponsored sports teams, and hosted countless community events.

This fight isn’t just about saving a building — it’s about protecting the people behind it. If Big D’s BBQ is forced to close due to eminent domain, our dedicated staff will also be displaced. Many of them rely on this job to support their families. A portion of the funds raised will go toward providing severance pay to help ease their transition during this difficult time. Your support helps us stand up for our team and our community.
