They keep asking when they can come back.
For many MBIC members, this is not simply a question about returning to a program. They are asking when they can return to their routines, their friends, their meals, their support system, and one of the few places where they feel fully known and accepted.
Right now, many of our members are at home waiting.
MBIC urgently needs to raise $15,000 to secure an appropriate, accessible space and cover the immediate costs required to restore community-based services.
Many of the people we support are older adults, veterans, and adults living with cognitive, neurological, physical, mental health, aging-related, and other life challenges. Some live alone. Many have limited income and transportation. Without consistent community-based support, the risk of isolation, declining functioning, food insecurity, and crisis increases.
MBIC has spent more than 25 years helping individuals remain connected, supported, and active within their communities. Members have received nutritious meals, life-skills training, cognitive and wellness activities, resource navigation, community outings, therapeutic support, and something equally important: people who notice when they are missing.
Our members did not lose their need for support. MBIC experienced a serious cash-flow gap created in part by the way community-based waiver services are funded.
Providers deliver authorized services first and submit claims afterward. When reimbursement is delayed, the costs of rent, utilities, insurance, meals, supplies, staffing, and programming continue. A delay involving one payer can affect payment for several members at the same time, creating a domino effect throughout a smaller community organization.
We believe that when people know better, they do better. We are sharing this because the effect of delayed payments on community providers, and on the people they serve, is not always visible from the outside.
While MBIC continues pursuing reimbursements, grants, partnerships, and more sustainable funding, our members need an immediate bridge.
Your donation will help us:
• Secure an accessible and welcoming program location.
• Restore structured daily and community-based services.
• Provide meals, program materials, and wellness activities.
• Reconnect members with trusted routines and relationships.
• Reduce isolation among older adults and adults facing significant barriers.
• Expand resource navigation and individualized community support.
A contribution of $5, $10, $25, $100, or any amount moves us closer.
This is not simply about an organization reopening its doors.
It is about people asking when they can return to a community they love.
Please help us bring them back together.
