Hi everyone, I am Lisa Landolt, and I am wanting to raise money to help my amazing cousin, Lori King Brown, and her daughter, Maddie, through their difficult time to get back on their feet. You may have seen Lori’s pictures on my Facebook page and on her website lkbstudios.com—she is one of my favorite photographers (did you see the graduation photo she took of Maddie using the Mary Tyler Moore theme, throwing the graduation hat in the air?). Pictures of Lori and Maddie practically come to life with their personalities bouncing off the page. As a photographer, Lori knows how to make others shine, and she shines the most when she is helping someone else. Lori and Maddie are the first people we usually reach out to for help, support, and advice. They have been there for me and others, and now they need us there for them.
Behind Lori’s amazing smile you see in her photos, Lori has been struggling with illnesses this past year, along with chronic horrible health conditions including endometriosis. As a result, she has been unable to work and has depleted her savings she worked so hard to set aside for Maddie, who begins college this fall (studying to become a Nurse Practitioner). Lori has borrowed as much as she can, and she has extended offers for future photography sessions for down the road, which helps, but the bills have gotten to the point where she needs help for even daily living now. As you may know, when you reach this point, the smallest unexpected expense can put you into a deep hole, and that is where Lori is. In addition to medical expenses, her car a/c has gone out (she lives in Houston!!), she is behind on all of her monthly bills, and she needs to make sure Maddie has even the basics covered, like a cell phone when she leaves for college.
You know me and you know my family—we never give up and we fight the good fight! There is a light at the end of the tunnel! Lori is under medical care and will be able have a full hysterectomy in October. After her slow recovery, she will be able to build the life again she has worked so hard for, for both her and Maddie. Lori has a gift for her photography—with her background and love for working with special needs kids, teaching, and in theater—she knows how to bring out the Rock Star in people. We just need to keep her star going until she is able to do it again!
We would love if you could help Lori and Maddie in any way you can—every little bit will help and be greatly appreciated. I would also love to keep you updated so we can rejoice as we see how far they will go. Please keep them in your prayers. Thank you and please know how much you all mean to them, and to me.
“They’re gonna make it after all!”
