ABOUT THE FILM
They Took the Sky is a narrative short film that will serve as a senior capstone project at the Savannah College of Art and Design. This project is currently in pre-production and is scheduled to enter production in March 2026, shooting in Savannah, GA.
This story asks what happens when art is taken away, following a character who discovers a hidden world of creativity and experiences music for the first time as something completely new. It celebrates the human drive to create and shows that even in a world that suppresses expression, people will always find a way to create and share.

LOGLINE
A repressed office worker discovers an underground gallery where a performer’s song opens his eyes to a world he’s never seen.
SYNOPSIS
Leo, an obedient office worker and father, lives a safe and predictable life under the strict rules of ORDEX, a corporation that has outlawed all creativity. His routine is disrupted when he witnesses an act of artistic defiance that puts him at risk. Driven by curiosity and paranoia, Leo discovers a hidden, speakeasy-style gallery where vibrant art and music survive underground. Hearing a song for the first time awakens emotions he never knew existed, forcing him to question the world he’s built for himself and the future he’s shaping for his son.

SCAD senior with a strong background in directing, writing, and producing narrative shorts, documentaries, and branded content. Dedicated to telling bold, character-driven stories with fresh perspectives.
AMIRA KOPEYEVA, producer
SCAD junior with 4+ years’ experience on 75+ sets across features, shorts, docs, music videos, and commercials. Skilled in managing logistics, leading teams, and delivering projects on time and on budget.
