They Took His Spleen, Please Send Some Green
Donation protected
On Sunday, January 19th, Ben took a spill while riding his bike. He landed in a freak position, rupturing his spleen and causing internal bleeding. The doctors were able to remove the spleen and stop the bleeding. He has a long road to recovery ahead, but he will be ok in the long run.
After surgery, a few days in the ICU, and a few days in the main hospital, we are anticipating his medical bills to be sky high. The last thing I want for my brother is to be busy stressing over finances when he should be focusing on recovery. We are asking for donations to help with both the immediate needs of being able to pay for his follow up appointments (he’s still gonna need 27 staples removed, among other things), easing the blow of not being able to work (Burro Cheese is gracious enough to provide him with paid time off, but we’re not sure how long he will be out), and affording his medications once he is discharged, in addition to help with the actual bills once they start rolling in. Right now, we aren’t sure how much to anticipate. But, Ben is unfortunately (like so many still) uninsured and the ICU in particular is not cheap. Whether we make our goal, fall short, or exceed it, any donations would be greatly appreciated. If you can’t donate, please take the time to share or just send him something silly to help cheer him up. Thank you all so much in advance.
In addition, we know his work (Burro Cheese) will be putting on a fundraiser soon as well. As soon as I have that information, I will post it here.
