My name is Kananiloaʻanuenue "Nanz" Ponciano, and Uncle Ben and Aunty Rosario are my family. I’m putting this GoFundMe together on behalf of our Guinaban ʻohana, we are working closely as a family, and all donations will go directly towards meeting our immediate needs to help us get back on our feet..
On March 13, 2026, when the first wave of the Kona low storm hit, Uncle Ben and Aunty Rosario Guinaban had to evacuate their home as the river behind their neighborhood started rising. By God’s grace, the water stopped at their backyard and didn’t enter their home. We thought they were in the clear. But just days later, on Thursday, March 19, the second wave came—and it came hard. The water rose so fast, they had no time. Uncle Ben and Aunty Rosario had to evacuate again, this time walking out through floodwaters just to get to safety. They had to leave everything behind. By the grace of God, they made it out in time.
This storm devastated their entire area. Some of their neighbors lost everything. Homes were overtaken by the flood.
Uncle Ben and Aunty Rosario are safe and currently staying with family, but their home has been heavily impacted. Floodwater, mud, and contamination from runoff filled their house. The inside is completely damaged. Appliances, furniture, household items, and even precious sentimental belongings had to be removed. We are so thankful for all the hands that came through to help clear out their home—truly a blessing to see community show up with love. But we still get plenty work ahead.
Today, March 25, was their first real day back at the house, trying to sort through what little could be saved. It’s been heavy. Uncle Ben and Aunty Rosario are getting older, and this kind of physical and emotional work is not easy for them.
As their family, we are jumping in to help in every way we can—but we know we cannot do this alone.
We are humbly asking for support to help them rebuild what was lost. The Kona low storm had completely damaged the outside and inside of my uncle and aunties home, these funds will be used for urgent needs to help our ohana stay safe and together.
If you feel led to give, we truly appreciate it. No amount is too small. And if you’re not able to donate, we ask for your prayers and for you to share this page.
We trust that God will make a way, just like He already has. Thank you for standing with our family during this time.
Mahalo nui loa for your love, your prayers, and your support
Heavenly Father,
We lift up the Waialua and North Shore communities to You during this difficult time. So many families have been impacted, displaced, and overwhelmed by this flood. Lord, we ask for Your peace to cover every home, every heart, and every family affected.
Bring comfort to those who have lost so much, strength to those doing the hard work of rebuilding, and hope to those who feel uncertain about what comes next.
Protect our kupuna, our keiki, and every helping hand stepping in to serve. Bless this community with unity, compassion, and resilience as we come together to lift one another up.
Lord, we thank You for Your protection over those who made it to safety. We trust that You will continue to make a way where there seems to be none.
Let Your love be felt through every act of kindness, every donation, every prayer, and every person showing up to help.
In Jesus’ mighty name we pray,
Amen
Mahalo for all your love and support.
