My name is Zoë Holloway, the daughter of Tonya Michelle Holloway. In 2017, my mother passed away suddenly in her sleep at the age of 49. Being a giving person throughout her life as a loving wife, mother, friend and co-worker, I want to honor her memory by giving back to the institution we both cherished, my alma mater - Spelman College.
Tonya Holloway was a person who worked hard and displayed excellence in everything she did. She was a strong advocate for women pursuing higher education and worked at Spelman College (a woman's college and the #1 HBCU in the U.S.) for over 11 years. She loved the College, the faculty and staff, and the students. For always giving a helping hand and passion for traveling, the Tonya M. Holloway scholarship is a need-based scholarship for a freshman Spelman student who has a 3.0 and plans to study abroad.
