Helping Homeless around Detroit
Donation protected
Hi! I am Taylor Little, a student of the executive board of Diversity Committee and Liberation of Hidden Colors at Harrison High School in Michigan. I have created a project known as The Temple Project to serve homeless individuals around Detroit who lack free access to personal care and hygienic items . The Temple Project collects donations of personal care and hygienic items like menstrual products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, socks, clothes, contraception, shampoo, soaps, etc. to then distribute them to different emergency shelters and programs and homeless people around Detroit, especially homeless women. The name comes from the idea that bodies should be treated like temples: with care. Those who are homeless may not have a permanent home to sleep in at night at this very moment, but at the same time, their bodies are homes, too. They should be treated as such, but in order to do so, they need access to resources. So, in order to distribute items, first they must be collected. That’s where you would come in! I am asking that you please donate money so so we can buy these items previously listed. There is no deadline, so if you cannot donate as soon as you would like to, I understand.
Please consider donating.
Homeless people are people of our communities, too. They deserve access to the same things we do.
Thank you SO much, for even taking the time out of your day to read this.
If you would like to physically send the items and contribute, please email me and/or contact me through GoFundMe.
