ABOUT THE SUNNY CENTER
The Sunny Center is a foundation that provides a place where those who have been released from prison after having served long terms unjustly can safely rest, recuperate, and transform. Sonia 'Sunny' Jacobs and Peter Pringle each served years on death row—Jacobs 17 years in the United States and Pringle 15 years in Ireland. Both were exonerated after their convictions were overturned for murders that they did not commit.
The Sunny Center is not just a place, but also a family unit because the most important component for healing is love, and belonging and being surrounded by a nurturing circle of support in a therapeutic environment.Click here to view The Sunny Center website "THE EXONERATED" - A theatre productionWe would like to use this page to help fund a performance of The Exonerated, a play written by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen. It tells the story of six innocent people, wrongly convicted, and sentenced to death, including Sunny Jacobs.
The Exonerated ran successfully in New York for over two years and has toured all major cities in the United States. The performance also ran for fourteen weeks in London and was shown at the Edinborough and Dublin theatre festivals. Sunny and Peter plan to organize a performance to be held on November 19, 2017 at 3pm at the Town Hall Theatre in Galway
as a fundraiser to raise vital funds for The Sunny Center. Your donations will go towards meeting the costs of putting on the performance. Sunny and Peter anticipate that the participation of the cast and crew will be voluntary, however, funds will be needed for other production costs such as the venue, technical services, and other ancillary costs.
Funds are urgently needed to set this production in motion. Cover photo copyright: Matt Cetti-Roberts/Frontline PicturesClick here to Donate to The Sunny Center using PayPal
