The Spot - Video Game Lounge Fund

Donation protected

Video games have been percieved as "a waste of time" by a majority of people globally since the very first console left the arcades and arrived in the living room. It was the start of a whole new multi-billion dollar industry that is only seeing an incline as years pass and people discover new ways to utilize the form of entertainment to create works of art and competition. The backbone to the success of the industry are credited to the fans who are constantly taking initiative and highlighting the games they have a profound passion in, and giving the creators a reason to continue creating interactive stories that aim to entertain and teach valuable lessons, ethics, and morals to their audience.

Video game enthusiasts, tournament organizers, and best friends Ryan "Uchi" Rojas and Ben Lacen have worked so hard to continue providing for a community of gamers in the northeastern Pennsylvania region by creating a multitude of events for people to attend and celebrate one of the greatest forms of modern art and entertainment. With the belief that video games are as indiscriminate as people wish to be, the dynamic duo work to give all those who share a passion for gaming a place to be themselves without worrying about the nuances and minutia of an individual's day-to-day life. Video games don't care about what color, what religion, what history, what size, what shape, or who you as a person are when you decide to play it. Video games aim to entertain everyone the same way despite where you come from. Video games invite you to fall in love with lore and stories that can teach valuable lessons. Video games aim to be your very best and work hard to surpass others in the name of friendly competition. Rojas and Lacen aim to do the same exact thing.

Using their talents and experiences in design, broadcasting, digital technologies, and event coordination, Rojas and Lacen have set their sights on building a permanent venue where people can simply come in and game. This is the goal of our new found gaming lounge project entitled "The Spot".

After a few years of organzing and running several tournaments and events in the tristate region, we are now ready to take the next big step forward in giving gamers in northeastern PA a home. However, we are turning to the community for a little bit of help.

We are looking to equip the room with everything necessary to create a one-stop gaming lounge and tournament center.
